    Definitions

    Alcohol: A central nervous system depressant associated with cognitive, memory, motor, and sensory impairment. Chemical name is ethanol. Ethanol is found in beer, wine, and spirits.

    Alcohol Addiction: A physical or mental dependence on alcohol.

    Liver: A vital organ that among other things, processes alcohol in the body.

    Blood Alcohol Poisoning: Occurs when the amount of alcohol in the bloodstream causes parts of the brain that control basic life support functions, such as heart rate, breathing and temperature control to shut down. This is otherwise known as an alcohol overdose, which can lead to permanent brain damage or death.
